Wildland Firefighters

Superintendent
Chugachmiut is recruiting for (2) Superintendents. One position is for the Denali Fire Crew, a Type II IA Crew based in Soldotna, Alaska.  The second position is for the Yukon Fire Crew, a Type II IA Fire Crew based in McGrath, Alaska. The Superintendent is responsible for the supervision, management and administration of a 20 person crew. Requirements: Must meet the ICS minimum red card Superintendent qualifications and will be knowledgeable of federal and state fire regulations, wildfire suppression techniques sufficient to determine strategy, tactics, air operations, crew organization and safety.

Assistant Superintendent
The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the supervision, management and administration of a 20 person crew during the absence of the Superintendent. Requirements: Must meet the ICS minimum red card Superintendent qualifications and will be knowledgeable of federal and state fire regulations, wildfire suppression techniques sufficient to determine strategy, tactics, air operations, crew organization and safety.

Squad Leader
Three positions are available for approximately 3.5 months starting April 2009 for both crews. The Squad leader is responsible for supervision of 5-10 crew members. The incumbent is responsible for suppressing and controlling Wildland fires under a variety of situations by applying knowledge of fire suppression methods, building fire lines, intentionally burning fuels within the fire perimeter, and patrolling lines.

Crewmember Firefighters
Positions are available on both the Denali and Yukon Crews. Crewmembers are involved with a wide variety of Wildland fire suppression and prescribed fire duties. Candidate must meet ICS minimum red card qualifications for Firefighters. There are two entry level positions (crewmembers with no experience), one per crew. Training will be provided.

Positions are subject to drug testing, and required Hotshot physical fitness standards, & medical exam.  Submit fire training & assignment records with application.
