Healthy Marriage
Positive Relationship Pathways and Healthy Relationships and Family Skills are federal and state-funded grant awards designed to increase the percentage of Native couples who have the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about healthy relationships. During the three year project, local positions will be developed in each community, and these will collaborate with Chugachmiut, tribal councils, community health centers, and local churches to provide activities and services designed to educate and encourage couples to make positive, informed decisions concerning their family relationships. The program will specifically utilize the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP), a national curriculum developed by expert marriage and family life specialists and therapists. This curriculum focuses on divorce prevention and marriage enhancement workshops for married and unmarried couples. Because the program will utilize community members who are in successful marriages and long-term relationships, Chugachmiut is confident that Positive Relationship Pathways and Healthy Relationship and Family Skills programs will benefit the communities long after the project is complete. |
