Social Services

Chugachmiut’s social worker provides information, referral services and client advocacy for Alaska Native and American Indian individuals and their families that live in Seward and the villages of Tatitlek, Chenega Bay, Nanwalek, and Port Graham. The social worker assists clients by helping them cope with and solve issues in their everyday lives, such as family and personal problems, understand and apply for services such as Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Veteran benefits, Denali Kid Care, access to legal services and substance abuse services. The social worker may also provide crisis intervention or short-term counseling for individuals and their families when other service providers or resources are unavailable.
