HOUSING IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (HIP)
ANNOUNCEMENT
Chugachmiut is required to submit a Board of Director approved "Summary of Eligible Applicant" document to BIA on or before October 1, 2010. To be eligible, the applicant must meet income guidelines and demonstrate a need for housing services.
The following is a schedule for when we will be in your community to help you fill out an application, update your current application, or gather various required documents:
- Qutekcak Native Tribe Office on August 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Nanwalek Low Rent Office on September 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Port Graham Village Council Office on September 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Chenega Bay and Tatitlek: Wanda Kvasnikoff will be available on August 27 by telephone at 1-800-478-4155 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
We will need the following:
- Completed, signed application
- Proof of Handicap from your Doctor (if applicable)
- BIA Enrollment Number and/or Certificate of Indian Blood
- Signed Tax Return
- Copy of Deed or Lease to Land
If you’ve recently submitted an application, please meet with our staff to verify that your application is complete.
Filling out an application does not guarantee you will be selected for home renovation or replacement. All applications are collected by BIA and you will compete nationally with other applicants. The process can take 12 to 24 months before HIP candidates are selected and awarded by BIA.
