Wildland Firefighting

Established in May 2005 as a Type II Hand Crew, the Yukon Fire Crew received Initial-Attack status in 2006. Chugachmiut has been a nationally recognized player in wildland firefighting since 1998. Crew members are ready to fight fires throughout Alaska and the western United States and perform fuels reduction project work to reduce the likelihood of wildfires in certain areas.

Llangarlluni: Becoming Aware

Our vision is to revitalize the traditional Chugach Native culture and language. The goal is to make Sugpiaq/ Eyak history and heritage a part of the regular school curriculum with support and direction from our Elders’ traditional ecological knowledge (TEK).
