Applications are now open for Chugachmiut’s Housing Improvement Program (HIP). HIP is a grant program administered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) to help American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) individuals and families who lack access to safe, standard housing.

HIP provides:

• Home repair, renovation, or replacement for modest homes
• Down payment assistance for purchasing a new home

The program is designed to serve those with the greatest need. Priority is given to:

• Elders and individuals with disabilities
• Low-income families with dependent children
• Veterans
• Those living in unsafe, overcrowded, or substandard housing

Applicants’ income must not exceed 150% of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Poverty Guidelines.
