New Grants Strengthening Language, Culture, and Youth Learning - October 20, 2025
Chugachmiut’s Litnaurwik Department of Education is growing through new partnerships and resources that support our vision of culturally rooted, self-determined education.

In 2025, we received three major grant awards advancing our work across generations:
- Liicungcarsuutnguq — Building Tools for Sugt’stun Learning Online
Creating new digital tools and resources for Sugt’stun learners of all ages, ensuring our language thrives in modern spaces. - Cultural Heritage and Climate Justice
Honoring traditional knowledge and community resilience while addressing the impacts of climate change on our lands and way of life. - Gwangkumciit’stun Cutmen — Native Youth Community Project (NYCP)
Empowering youth through cultural connection, leadership, and academic success grounded in Sugpiaq and Eyak heritage. This new five-year project supports Native Youth Olympics (NYO) participation for students in Tatitlek, Chenega, Valdez, Cordova, Port Graham, Seward, and Nanwalek, helping sustain traditional games and values of strength, respect, and teamwork across generations.
